When you purchase music from Score Exchange, you are not buying a physical sheet of music, you are buying the right to print the music on your own printer. We will not be sending the music to you in the post!
Printing as PDF or to file is not allowed so you do have to physically print your purchases.
Score Exchange is powered by Sibelius Internet Edition which means that the original file is not accessible to the customer. In addition, Scorch prevents the creation of PDF files from downloaded scores as well as blocking printing to file.
When you buy anything from Score Exchange, you have 24 hours after first opening the print dialog for that score and this should give you enough time to add ink/toner/paper or correct any other printer errors.
Once you have completed the checkout process, the music you have purchased will be shown on the My purchases section of the My account pages. You can print the music at any time after this, until 24 hours after you first open the print dialog for that item.
It's exactly the same top publication quality as from Sibelius itself. The only constraint is the resolution of your printer, but most domestic printers are more than satisfactory for music printing.
Check your printer is switched on, contains paper and is plugged into your computer. If it is, it is probably not set up correctly. Please consult your computer's or printer's manual.
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then in the Print dialog box switch on the Fit to Paper option. (On Mac OS X, it is in the area named after your web browser, e.g. Safari or Firefox.) Then print.
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print dialog box change the Substitute Lines option. (On Mac OS X, it is in the area named after your web browser, e.g. Safari or Firefox.) Then print.
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print dialog box change the Substitute Arpeggios, gliss., etc. option. (On Mac OS X, it is in the area named after your web browser, e.g. Safari or Firefox.) Then print.
You set the score to print only odd/even-numbered pages. Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print dialog box choose the Normal and All options. (On Mac OS X, it is in the area named after your web browser, e.g. Safari or Firefox.) Then print.
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print dialog box change the Substitute Braces option if there is one. (On Mac OS X, it is in the area named after your web browser, e.g. Safari or Firefox.) Then print.
Try changing your printer's font settings. For instance, in Windows try printing again but click Properties in the Print dialog box, then try changing options which affect font printing, such as Print fonts as graphics or Print TrueType as graphics (usually on the Font tab of the Properties dialog box). You could also check the recommendations in www.sibelius.com/A552 which normally applies to Sibelius itself but equally applies to Scorch installations.
If you have tried the above solutions to printing problems without success, check if you have the latest driver for your printer.
You should be able to download the latest driver from the printer manufacturer's web site:
Canon printers: http://software.canon-europe.com/
Epson printers: http://support.epson.com/filelibrary.html
HP printers: http://www.hp.com/cposupport/eschome.html
Others: use your web browser to search for the manufacturer.
After downloading the driver, save it somewhere easy to find, such as on your desktop. Then install the new driver.
To install the new driver on Windows, click the Start button at the bottom left of the screen, then Settings, then Printers. Then double-click Add Printer and follow the instructions.
When asked for the manufacturer and model of your printer, if you have just obtained a new driver (e.g. by downloading it), click Have Disk... and find the new driver file you downloaded.
On Mac, if you need to update the printer driver, just download it to the desktop, double-click the installer. It will open in a browser window at which point you can double-click this to install the driver.
When you've finished, find the score again, click Scorch's Print button and print it to see if it works. You may need to consult this web page again to adjust the way it prints.
If you need a score to test printing, please use the test score.
