Yehuda Halevi, a physician who lived 900 years ago in Spain, wrote poetry on a wide range of subjects. Four poems by Yehuda Halevi have been put to music here. These songs are for alto and woodwind quintet. The melodies are modal, hopefully in the style of Ladino folk songs.

The first song is "He Comes", sung by a woman who enthusiastically awaiting the arrival of her man. The second is "Sabbath, My Love", about counting down the days of the week toward the arrival of joyful Sabbath. The third is "The Mirror", a mischievous song about a man who loves himself more than his woman. The fourth is "Love Song", about a woman's plans for seduction.
