Michael Praetorius (1571-1621) was a German composer, organist, and writer on music. Some of Praetorius most endearing and most widely-known works are heard at Christmastime (Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming, and In Dulci Jubilo among others.) Ballet CCLXVIII was published in Terpsichore in 1612. Praetorius Ballet CCLXVIII begins in a rare cheerful major mode before veering off into various degrees of minor. Listen to the MP3 recording by The Brethren Brass for a "real" and accurate performance.
