Born March 14th, 1936, Litomyšl - Czech Republic. 1954-58 composition studies at Music Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU) in Prague with Jaroslav Řídký and Vladimír Sommer. 1958 MgA. degree, 1964-1972 lecturer at the Department of Composition at the same faculty. 1970 finished here post-graduate studies with Emil Hlobil and passed Workshop of electro-acoustic music with Eduard Herzog and Miloslav Kabeláč in Experimental Studio of Radio Plzeň. From 1967 readership at Film and TV Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) for music theory and sound dramaturgy of film, 1999 - Professor. 1980 founder and 1993-2011 head of Sound Design Department at FAMU.

His musical work is directed mainly to modern classical music - orchestral, chamber and vocal - performed live, on the radio, printed and published on CD. His 3rd String Quartet was awarded the front position in the International Rostrum of Composers UNESCO - Paris 1991. Composition "Zoolessons" was awarded the Annual Prize of Czech Music Found - 1993. Author of publications about sound dramaturgy of film; most substantial: Sound Dramaturgy of Audiovisual Work (AMU Prague 1995, 2004, 2006, 2014, Beograd 2008) serving as basic educational text at both Czech and foreign film schools.
