Music is a second 'career' but a first love. Playing percussion through the college and graduate school years, I've had the opportunity to learn from [and sometimes perform with] some of the great drummers. I really enjoy playing jazz, funk/R&B and Latin music. ~

My grandfather, who died 16 years before I was born, was a "big band" drummer in the late 1930's, and early 1940's, and I'd like to think I'm passing the genes along, as my daughter is now a percussion major at one of the nations top music colleges. ~

A drum corps nut at heart, I currently am the drum line instructor for our local high school band, which is why I wrote most of the basic drills posted here. When time permits, I do a little private teaching, and also play drums for a contemporary praise band at my church. ….and when I'm not drumming, I practice as an Optometrist!
