Tim took up playing classical guitar in 1972. After playing pop music for a while he took evening classes to begin learning the classical guitar which soon became his life-long passion. Tim has mainly been self taught, apart from receiving some help from teachers Sue Court and Ray Burley who helped him to study for his grade 8 exam in 1984. Tim has also recently studied with Guitarist / Composer Vincent Lindsey-Clark. He has also studied piano and teaches ukulele and bass guitar. He has taken part in classical guitar master-classes with John Mills, David Russell, Jorge Morel, Carlos Bonell, Jose Gallardo del Rey and Gary Ryan. Tim has performed in various ensemble situations and with a duo partner. He has also played in a jazz band and provided flamenco guitar accompaniment for a flamenco dance class. In July 2008, Tim acheived a Diploma in guitar teaching from the ABRSM. His students, who have entered for grade exams with ABRSM have had a 100% pass rate. He is the ensemble director for Southampton Classical Guitar Society (See link) and he runs the Redlynch Youth Guitar Orchestra, which is open to guitarists from 8 to 18 years and meets once a month. Tim plays a classical guitar made by guitar maker Pete Beer.
