Historical Background:
The original version of the National Anthem of Iran is written in Persian language, the transliteration of which is "Sorood-e Melli-e Jomhoori-e Eslami-e Iran". Subsequent to the Islamic Revolution of 1949, the present National anthem of Iran was adopted in the year 1990 which replaced the anthem used during Ayatollah Khomeini’s era. Iran’s first National anthem was titled "Salamati-ye Shah", which was used since the time of Mozzafar al-Din Shah Qajar until the year 1933.
Music of the current National anthem of Iran was composed by Hassan Riahi while the lyrics were written collectively. As an important national symbol of the country, the National anthem of Iran is sung on important occasions of national significance.
