The title of this Renaissance-era song of Galician origin translates (albeit, a bit awkwardly) as Come Across the Water to Me My Lady Juliet. The text, like the music, is from an anonymous source and is likely a process of evolution over the centuries, with additions or changes made by several hands, owing to its multi-language aspects. The words are mostly Spanish, but also draw on Italian and French throughout, giving the song a truly international flavor. The bouncy rhythmic lines illustrate the typical technique of alternating repeated sections with differing dynamic levels (loud-soft) with rousing results. Listen to the MP3 recording by The Brethren Brass for a "real" and accurate performance.
