This worksheet is basically the result of information sheets I’ve used with my own students, who have been able to study them between lessons. They are based on the type of material encountered in the ABRSM Specimen Aural Tests (Grades 6-8) book.

It’s always good to hear that the notes might have come in useful: a teacher from the East Midlands recently contacted me to say, ’Just to let you know that my Grade VIII candidate passed with a high merit and the comment for aural said ’that considerable perception was shown’. The singing was not good but there were only small errors in the other bits, so we were both very pleased and I am sure your aural notes helped a great deal!’

STOP PRESS: This new worksheet has been amended, and now corresponds with the latest ABRSM Aural Tests from 2011 onwards.

An MP3 file is attached, which students may then use for practice, away from the lesson. Playback can, of course, be paused, where details of individual chords are asked for.
