Petites Scènes d’Edna replaces a planned series of airs for bass voice based on texts by Edna St. Vincent Millay. The poetry is under copyright protection and cannot be used without permission. And to be quite frank, I grew weary trying to get approval to use the texts. With hindsight I believe the current work is better served by the violoncello. The poems are a set of 5 whose subject matter is attributed to the early 20th century murder trial of Sacco & Vanzetti (as per analyses available publicly). The work herewith draws inspiration from a sub-set of those poems (noted in the score).

The mp3 though computer generated is a better listening choice.
