This is a medley of Christmas tunes, which I originally wrote for instrumentalists at school. It can be played by three flutes and piano, or with more to a part - both Flute 1 & Flute 2 have a couple of optional divisi bars, but when playing one to a part, the small notes may be left out. It would equally suit a Recorder Trio, and I have included a separate part for Descant Recorder, if preferred. Flute 2 & Flute 3 are interchangeable with Treble and Tenor Recorders respectively.
The piano part is not too taxing, and should be playable by an able student - some octaves are optional! Overall it is intended to be bright, lively and festive, with just a little calm and repose in the middle section, with Silent Night.
Following a request from flautist, Anita Hall, I have made a Music Minus 1 version of the piano part, so that the piece can be played without having a real piano / pianist available! This can be heard on the attached MP3 file, and downloaded, if required. In order to get a decent join when the piano enters, I have now cued in the first few bars of the flutes into the piano part, which are then used on the MP3 recorded, but silent on normal SibeliusMusic playback.
STOP PRESS! I have added an extra 'tune' to the Christmas Tootie-Flooties! medley. Following Silent Night, there's now my late Mother's favourite, In the Bleak Midwinter - Holst's melody - just before the Wish you a Merry Xmas ending.
The Christmas Medley for Piano Duet already included this, so it seemed only right to make it available for all the other versions and arrangements.
