The Italian guitar virtuoso Mauro Giuliani was celebrated not only for his playing but for his many compositions for the guitar. Among these is a collection of 16 charming and relatively simple dances, published under the title La Tersicore del Nord (The Northern Tersicore, this being the name of the ancient Greek muse of the dance), thereby suggesting that Giuliani felt the collection to be inspired in some way by what he understood to be a northern European spirit. Here is an arrangement of one of them for flute choir. It’s great fun to play.
