You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.This arrangement is a transcription of my 2011 recording of "Away in a Manger" (hymn tune "Mueller"). Reflecting the well-known lyrics, the setting features subtle country piano cues coupled with peaceful chord clusters in modern harmonizations. Watch for the "slip notes" (in measures 9 and 10, for example). Classical grace notes are played just before the beat, while country slip notes (a trademark of country piano great Floyd Cramer) mimic the pedal steel guitar technique of playing the grace note ON the beat and then resolving the chord slightly after the beat. Listen to the mp3 recording for insight if you are unfamiliar with this technique. It helps to add a laid-back character to the song if you do it right.
