As the movements are brief, the players may choose to perform them with repeats, and/or may segue from one to other in order to create larger structures. Should the ensemble wish to include singers the arrangements have retained in the score the song texts given in the piano version.
The tempo and metronome markings do not conform to the original piano publication.
The phrase marks/slurs from the original piano publication, where otherwise ommitted, are shown as dashed slurs.
Programme note:
The Fifteen Moravian Folksongs were composed by Leos Janácek in 1922 for piano with the folk melodies presented with the song texts. In addition some of the songs are presented with Moravian place names. The first song is prefixed with the name 'Sušil' - which refers to František Sušil (1804 - 1868) - an early collector of Moravian folksongs.
