The Duetto buffo di due gatti ("humorous duet for two cats") is a popular performance piece for two treble voices, often performed as a concert encore. The "lyrics" consist entirely of the cat-like vocalization, "miau" ("meow"). While the piece typically is attributed to Gioachino Rossini, it was not actually composed by him as is. It actually is a compilation of the "Katte-Cavatine" by the Danish composer C.E.F. Weyse and segments from Act II of Rossini’s opera Othello, i.e., Othello and Iago’s duet and the cabaletta to the aria "Ah, come mai non senti", sung by Rodrigo. The arranger’s identity is not known.
