’Of the Father’s Heart Begotten’ is based on the Latin poem ’Corde natus’ by the Roman poet Aurelius Prudentius. The poem was translated and paired with a medieval plainchant melody Divinum mysterium.

This setting can make a beautiful, atmospheric opening to a carol service, and an nice way of introducing the melody to ’Of the Father’s Heart Begotten’, especially if the carol is being sung in full later in the service (do take a look at my arrangement with original descant!). Mp3 track is taken from the Junior Saint James’s Singers Christmas Concert in 2014.
