'Night Piece #4 (Night Rider) is subtitled "… nobody sees the storm raging within us", a quote I believe from the Mozambiquan poet Noemia de Sousa, first active during the anti-colonial wars beginning in the late 1940's.(Please correct me if I am misquoting. Frustratingly, I can not find the source of this line that has always remained vivid in my memory.) In my little piece I have only tried to subsume the rage of the poet. Even so, it is beyond my capacity to understand. I can only draw strength from the power of his expressions against the monumental injustices of colonialism.
