Devienne needs no introduction to flute players. I have added a third part to his Duos (op. 57) - the Douze Petits Duos Facile d’execution pour deux flutes - in order to make them available to a larger group of players. This is the first of the 12. The two upper parts are exactly as in the original; the third part is entirely my own invention. Tempo and dynamic markings are all my suggestion, as is my feeling that the minor section of the Rondeau can afford to be taken presto, hinting at an eastern European influence. All for fun. CORRECTION: full score, Rondeau, bar 22, read F natural, not # (corrected in part). All slurs etc as in original; all metronome indications are editorial.
