Good Christian Men, Rejoice! Christmas Carol Arrangement for Wind Quartet (2005)
A flexible, fun, approachable arrangement in four parts: (1) Flute OR Oboe OR Violin, (2) Clarinet OR Trumpet, (3) Sax OR French Horn, and (4) Bassoon OR Trombone. This arrangement of "Good Christian Men, Rejoice!" includes elements from an arrangement by Bach of the Latin version "In Dulci Jubilo." The composer of the original Christmas carol melody is anonymous, possibly from the thirteenth century. My arrangement begins with the clarinet and bassoon/trombone playing alone, then all join together. After a brief middle section in the dominant key, the melody is restated in a final, rousing chorus, complete with a soaring obbligato melody in the flute/oboe. A great piece to include in your holiday performance list!
