In setting Christina Rossetti’s beautiful lyric on Revelation 21:1-3 and Genesis 3:18 I have tried to match the simplicity of the music to the simplicity of the utterance. The piece could be used as an Introit, particularly around Remembrance Sunday; or at funerals.It should be sung softly, slightly mysteriously, and taking full advantage,in the rests, of any echo available. The keyboard part, though reticent, is essential; it could well be played on the organ.
