From Handel’s Water Music Suite in F, this piece has numerous antiphonal sections alternating between higher strings (first, second, and viola) and lower strings (second, viola, and cello); hence, the accents on the second eighth note of many measures, indicating the entrance of the antiphonal voice (with the second and viola often playing both sides of the fence). The piece can be simplified by elimination of the trills. This piece makes an excellent processional or recessional for weddings, or festive music for any joyous occasion. Which method of viewing music should I use?
