This is an arrangement for violin and piano of the last of Charles McCreery’s Fourteen Tolkien Songs for Childrens Voices (’The Road Goes Ever On and On’, from The Lord of the Rings). The double stopping is optional; i.e. it can be played with the lower of the two voices omitted if necessary. Alternatively, the lower of the two voices could be taken by a second violin or viola. The high notes in bars 40-44 can be transposed down an octave.

’Charles McCreerys beautifully melodic, intricately textured compositions are infused with classical, romantic and folk idioms.’ Samantha Gillogly, violinist
