They draw upon pre-christian Celtic mythology, international folktale motifs, and early medieval historic traditions. They were first translated into English by Lady Charlotte Guest in the mid 18th century.
"Enchantment" is based on the third branch of the Mabinogi, the story of Manawydan son of Llyr. This tale tells of how Manawydan lived with Pryderi and his mother and his wife Rhiannon and were beset with enchantments from Pryderi's enemies.
