Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba for two solo Violins and Strings.

Handel’s "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" is one of his many biblical oratorios and was first performed in 1748. Sheba, the powerful Queen and her entourage travels to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem to meet the wise King Solomon. Tradition states that after Solomon correctly answered riddled that she asked, a romance developed. From this encounter Sheba bore Solomon’s child, King Menelek, the founder of the Ethiopian empire.
