I’ve now produced versions of The Lone Ar-ranger! for a great number of instrumental ensembles, but a version for string quartet has been conspicuous by its absence!

Wearing my concert reviewer’s hat, I recently had the opportunity to meet up with Ruth Rogers and the Iuventus Quartet when they returned to Plymouth University.

I have known Ruth for some time, and have had the pleasure of meeting and reviewing her as a duo, with her Aquinas Piano Trio, as leader of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and, of course, with the Iuventus.

When I sent Ruth my latest review, I attached an MP3 of this arrangement for string quartet, as a possible encore for them some time. Ruth liked what she heard, and asked me to send across the parts.

Even though Sibelius 7 Sounds are pretty damn good, it would be great if the Iuventus could find time to include it in the future. I’d give it a great review, of course!!
