"Un Canadien Errant" is a folk song from Canada concerning a young man who had been banished from Canada after his involvement in the Rebellion of 1837. This arrangement for solo piano is in three sections, the first sets the mood of the person who cannot return home to his family and friends, the second contrasting section is faster and shows a frustration because he cannot get back home. The third section is slower again, with the melody in a lower register, ending with a recall of the opening melodic material and a hint at "O Canada", as a parting thought.
