Commentary by Left Brain vs. Right Brain. LB: "Instead of an original composition, this is an arrangement of a simple piano piece. Albert Ellmenreich was a German actor and writer who was born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1816, and died in Lbeck in 1905. However he also composed several short piano pieces. His Spinning Song remains popular among intermediate piano students." RB: "The more I heard the piano original, the more I thought it would sound pretty cool for a brass quintet. I changed a few harmonies and rhythms here and there, and also added some counterpoint to interweave the themes of the main and the middle sections. It doesn't sound much like an old spinning wheel anymore, but we could probably still spin a few yarns with it. It sure is fun." LB: "Agreed. This arrangement was completed in September 2007 in Chicago, Illinois."
