'E lucevan le stelle' is a famous tenor aria from the opera 'Tosca', by Giacomo Puccini. It is sung by Tosca's lover, the painter Mario Cavaradossi, when lamenting his coming execution.

This version is arranged for small orchestra (single woodwind, horn, trumpet, timpani, harp and strings) and can be played by as few as 13 players. The tenor part is exactly what Puccini wrote and there is minimal rescoring in the strings. The wind parts have been re-assigned where necessary, but otherwise this arrangement is faithful to the original.
