This short Fanfare was written in 1977, the year of the Silver Jubilee, and was played as a preface to the National Anthem, when I was conducting a pit orchestra for a production of ’Show Boat’ at the former ’Palace Theatre’ in Plymouth, for the Carmenians. Originally it was scored as a quartet, as the pit orchestra did not have a tuba. I have added organ, as well as amended brass parts if the Fanfare is played as a stand-alone quintet. The other parts, including snare drum and cymbal, are just as were heard originally each night before curtain-up. This Mix ’n Match arrangement could equally provide a regal opening to any ceremony, church service or brass concert.

The original version, now for Brass Quintet, is also available at Score Exchange, with optional percussion parts.
