Julius Klengel (1859-1933) was a German cellist who is most famous for his etudes and cello concerts. He was the leading cellist of the Gewanthaus Orchestra This piece is very beautiful and pietistic. It has been several times played in the cello concerts with 1000 cellists in Kobe, Japan. It is originally for 12 Violoncellos with very wide register range. This music is applicable for string orchestra with less technical levels. In this arrangement, divisi parts replace difficult double passages by pizzicato.
