Composed for a Film Music collaboration project in 1998, this score was written against the backdrop of a short screen extract, but works equally well as a piece of music in its own right.
The "scene" is a punt along the river Isis in Oxford in the early 1900s. A young couple, having found love at first sight, are whiling away the afternoon engaged in pleasant conversation. As their boat meanders through the countryside, passing by picnickers and ramblers enjoying the summer weather, the couple drift off slowly into the distance.
