It can be transposed up a tone back to C Major and the three lower parts still work well. In it's original key of C Major this piece works well if the two trumpet players use instruments in D or F. By arrangingof all the string parts for just Horn, Trombone and Tuba, this piece does make demands on all the quintet, not just the soloists.
