This delightful little piece of music was ascribed as a chorale to Joseph Haydn; much later, Johannes Brahms wrote a set of variations with this chorale theme, which is used as the introduction to his orchestral work.

The Cor Anglais parts are en lieu for both the 2nd Oboe and 1st Bassoon, and may be played with the Double Reed ensemle to augment the group.

This arrangement has been performed by the North Somerset Double Reed Ensemble.
