The concerto was written in two movements in 2000 and was first performed by Heather Birt (viola) and the University of Leicester Sinfonia conducted by Michael Sackin on 29th June 2002. In the latter part of 2008 I made some minor revisions to the existing movements and felt compelled to write a third movement to finish the concerto in an upbeat and joyous mood.
