The "Polovtsian Dances" or "Polovetsian Dances" are perhaps the best known selections from Alexander P. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor".

This particular dance "Gliding Dance of the Maiden's", or simply "Girls Dance", has been adapted many times. It was known as "Stranger In Paradise" in the musical "Kismet", and back in 1940, Artie Shaw a fantastic jazz clarinetist, recorded "My Fantasy" which has a tune almost identical to this dance.

This arrangement was done as a "First Solo with Orchestra", for youngsters to get a feel of soloing, and should be of no difficulty for the string accompaniment.

It can be performed without the Piano part, which coincidently can be used as a condensed score.
