The "Polovtsian Dances" or "Polovetsian Dances" are perhaps the best selections from Alexandra P. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor".

There have been many adaptations of the "Gliding Dance of the Maidens" or simply "Girl's Dance". Notably, in the 1950's it was known as the song "Stranger In Paradise" from the musical "Kismet". In 1940 Artie Shaw, a fantastic jazz clarinetist, recorded "My Fantasy" which has a tune almost identical to this dance.

This particular arrangement is intended as a "1st Solo with Orchestra", for youngsters to get a feel of soloing, and, bearing this in mind the string accompaniment is not of a difficult standard.

It can be performed without the piano part, which coincidently can be used as a condensed score.
