This journey is undertaken in a boat crewed by several of His relatives. When night falls he enters the underworld where he does battle with the fierce snake-like creature Apep. If he defeats the creature Ra is reborn and the following day will be bright and sunny, and everyone will be optimistic about its prospects. If Ra loses the battle then storm clouds will blight the day and the omens are dire.
Isis is the Queen of the Night, and along with others has the responsibility of guiding Ra's boat on its crossing into the Netherworld. 'She Of The Midnight', another name by which she is known, is the eleventh song in the cycle.
