This is part 1 of 9 parts of a Stabat Mater. The work is for 2-6 part mixed choir with string orchestra. The origin of the text is quite uncertain. The monk Jacopone da Todi (ca. 1228-1306), Pope Innocentius III (ca. 1160-1216), and the saint Bonaventura (died 1274) are named as the most probable poet, but also the Popes Gregorius and John XII and Bernhard of Clairveaux (died 1135) are mentioned. The German musicologist C.Blume thought that possibly the English monk John Pecham, who stayed in France until 1270, might be the author.(information by Hans van der Velden(1937-2005)

I especially want to thank the Flemish composer Jan Van Landeghem for the coaching he gave me during the finishing of this Stabat Mater. In this part there are parlando's that are not audible in the Mp3 file. The Mp3 file is the result of the virtual sounds of Sibelius.
