This is a new expanded version, dedicated to Linda Harris. Amor Schall started as a short expository piece in 2008 and is now a sonata-form single movement work. The title, meaning "Cupid's Horn", refers to an 18th Century horn invented in Russia that according to recent scholarship appears to have been the first valved brass instrument. The horn disappeared into obscurity before the world became interested in such things. A distinctive characteristic was its hemispherical bell with a matching hemispherical mute which when placed on the bell created a complete sphere.
