America’s March King, John Philip Sousa, was the director of the U.S. Marine Band from 1880-1892. As such, he brought the band to new heights of professionalism, turning it into one of the world’s premiere bands. In 1917 He wrote the march Naval Reserve, here arranged for string quartet. This joins a group of maritime-themed arrangements I have done for the Imperial Valley String Quartet’s performance at the annual Navy Ball at NAF, El Centro, each fall.
