Stylistically, it's best to do the discrete tempo changes as marked, as it's hard for a quintet group to be as rubato as a pianist. The exception being 168-184, where romanticism can blossom. Due to fatigue, the piece is usually best performed with only the first repeat, and skipping the rest, although the arranger has left the repeats in as originally published by Chopin.
