Bassoon 1 part from The Cathedral of Ys
Legend tells of a mythical city called Ys (pronounced "ees") that would have been located off the coast of modern day Paris. The city was built below sea level with huge walls to hold the water back, and a large gate to let ships in at low tide. It was the most impressive city in the world, but the people were very wicked, led astray by the evil princess. So the gods sent a violent storm and a messenger to the city who enticed the princess and convinced her to hand over the key to the gate. When she obliged, the messenger opened the gate letting the stormy waves crash over the city. Thus Ys and all it's inhabitants were lost forever. nnDepending on which legend you read, it's said that the cathedral of Ys (the one symbol of good) still rises out of the sea from time to time and tolls it's bells as a reminder of what happened to others.nnThis piece of music depicts the rise and fall of the cathedral out of the sea. You can hear the waves as it surfaces and the bells toll as it lingers briefly out of the water. And finally, it's slow peaceful decent back down into the watery depths. nnI would love to know if you are performing this piece. nPlease feel free to email me.ndavidroseberry@mac.com n

Which method of viewing music should I use?
Score Exchange has two methods to display previews of music: seView which uses regular html and javascipt and the Scorch plug-in from Avid which needs to be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Both have advantages and disadvantages:
seView
seView, is the most compatible option. You should be able to view music on all modern web browsers including most mobile devices. Even if your device does not support javascript you should still be able to preview at least page one of the music.
You do not need to install any additional software to use seView.
Scorch
Scorch is a free plug-in from Avid for displaying and printing music. It can also play the music that you're seeing. As modern web browsers are updated, Scorch is no longer compatible with many browsers. Scorch has never been compatible with mobile devices and some web browsers on Mac computers.
If your web browser does not install Scorch automatically, you can click here to download and install scorch manually.
