The title derives from Arabic, meaning "trumpets". This ceremonial piece is for brass octet and three pedal timpani. It develops two motifs, one rhythmic and one 3-note melodic motif, progressing in tonality from the initial G major, through a highly contrapuntal B flat major section to a noble conclusion in C sharp major.
