According to the learned ragtime scholar "Perfessor" Bill Edwards ( www.perfessorbill.com ), Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag was the first instrumental piece ever to sell a million copies. (Copies of sheet music, not records.) This is possibly the catchiest piano rag ever written. I had a lot of fun finding all the sneaky little sub-melodies Joplin hid among the piano keys and distributing them through a symphony orchestra, then adding a few ideas of my own. Amazingly, this number rocks even without any percussion, so I didn't include any. (Sorry guys.)
