DearBandDirector, I have been an elementary/middle school band director for 39 years.I have found that the best way to get kids to practice is to give them a piece that is fun.This "Snake Charmer" is fun!We performed this with my second year musician,5th grade band.It was tremendously enjoyable for them(and me),and the audience loved it.This arrangement will extend your students' ranges.It may seem too high or low for second year players but they can do it!Please have them sing where indicated,(you can also have your school chorus join in).
