An instrumental prelude, or meditation, inspired by Ralph Vaughan Williams’s (1872-1958) hymn tune ’Down Ampney’, which it occasionally recalls in passing. Intended as a qiet interlude at any appropriate point in the liturgy (e.g., before the sermon, during the peace, during communion). Expand at will, and alter instrumentation (e.g., strings, 2 flutes, clarinets, etc.)
