Picture the scene: an old Caithness crofter settles in front of the peat fire after a long day’s work and reaches for his bottle of malt whisky. There’s just one dram left in the bottle. He pours and appreciates it as the fire dims, the music becomes more mellow, and his life gradually loses focus…
