This is a composition of mine. It is an attempt to create an imaginary world of cats.

It starts with a club where there are rich cats cats having a good time one night.

Then some crook cats attempt to sneak into the rich club from the roof of the club, represented by the pizzicatos.

They are discovered by the rich club's Cat Guards. It culminates in a cat fight. The slides on the stringed instruments imitate the sound of cats purring and meowing while fighting.

Then the crook cats run away while the Cat Guards give chase. After much chase, the crook cats eventually get away.

While the crook cats cannot be found, they can be heard howling from afar, in the middle of the night. This is the background meowing which eventually fades off into the night…

Please listen to the mp3 recording. Though done with MIDI, it gives a clearer picture of what I am trying to depict…

Which method of viewing music should I use?

Score Exchange has two methods to display previews of music: seView which uses regular html and javascipt and the Scorch plug-in from Avid which needs to be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Both have advantages and disadvantages:

seView

seView, is the most compatible option. You should be able to view music on all modern web browsers including most mobile devices. Even if your device does not support javascript you should still be able to preview at least page one of the music.

You do not need to install any additional software to use seView.

Scorch

Scorch is a free plug-in from Avid for displaying and printing music. It can also play the music that you're seeing. As modern web browsers are updated, Scorch is no longer compatible with many browsers. Scorch has never been compatible with mobile devices and some web browsers on Mac computers.

If your web browser does not install Scorch automatically, you can click here to download and install scorch manually.
