The Black Nag Rides out is based on a well known medieval jig - Black Nag. The Black Nag of this piece is a malevolent creature galloping through the villages terrorising the population - least that's what I imagined when composing this, but then again it just could be a piece of music that I had a great deal of pleasure in writing.
