Viola from Le jardin féerique
Ravel’s delightful and atmospheric Le Jardin Feerique, or Fairy Garden, comes from his well-known Mother Goose Suite. Ravel was the master of orchestration and he wrote this piece for a full orchestra but the main body of the piece is for strings alone. This arrangement allows for the piece to be played by a string orchestra. The very high writing for solo violin and solo viola are in Ravel’s original.
